David Paterson


David J. Paterson, also known as Dave, served as Chief Executive Officer of Verso Corporation (Verso Paper Corp.) from May 14, 2012 until August 31, 2016 and as Chairman during his final months with the Company. He has expertise in the forestry industry and international business transactions. Mr. Paterson served as President and Chief Executive Officer and a director of AbitibiBowater Inc. (now doing business as Resolute Forest Products), a leading global producer of newsprint, coated and specialty papers, market pulp and wood products, from 2007 to 2011. He was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bowater Incorporated during 2007 and President and Chief Executive Officer of Bowater Incorporated from 2006 to 2007. From 1987 to 2006, Mr. Paterson worked in various executive and sales and marketing positions for Georgia-Pacific Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of tissue, packaging, paper, building products and related chemicals, including most recently as Executive Vice President of the Building Products division from 2003 to 2006, Executive Vice President of the Pulp and Paperboard division from 2001 to 2003, President of the Paper and Bleached Board division in 2001, and Senior Vice President of the Communication Papers division from 2000 to 2001.
 
Mr. Paterson served as a Director of Verso Corporation (Verso Paper Corp.) from May 2012 to August 2016, of KiOR, Inc. from 2012-2014, AbitibiBowater Inc. from 2007-2011, and Bowater Incorporated during 2007. He served as a Board Member of Research Atlanta, Inc. His other affiliations include a Member of HomeAid America National Board, a Member of Advisory, The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, a Member of ITAC7 of U.S. Department of Commerce and a Member of Wood Products International Executive Task Group of AF&PA. He was a Member of Atlanta District Export Council, Japan-America Society of Georgia and Korea American Southeast Chamber of Commerce and a Member of ISAC12 of U.S. Department of Commerce. Mr. Paterson holds an M.B.A. from University of Michigan in 1978 and a Bachelor of Science Degree from School of Industrial & Labor Relations, Cornell University in 1976.
